Atle Sonesen ready to take VNG Norge forward

 

 

 

Atle Sonesen has assumed the position as Managing Director of VNG Norge AS.

 

-       "I look forward to taking over the helm of VNG Norge", Atle Sonesen says. “VNG is strengthening its position within exploration and production and VNG Norge holds a key role in this growth ambition. We have a very competent team of employees and together we will successfully meet these expectations.” 

 

Atle Sonesen (44) holds a degree in petroleum engineering (M.Sc) from the University of Stavanger. He comes from the position as Managing Director of GDF SUEZ E&P. He also has a background in business development, technology and marketing for Schlumberger Oilfield Services. Overall, he has more than 20 years of experience from the industry, including from the well and drilling operations internationally, production operations, licensing and business management on the Norwegian continental shelf.

 

Idar Kjørlaug, who has been acting Managing director since 20 November 2012, will return to his position as Director Exploration and Deputy Managing Director of VNG Norge.

 

-          “The exploration and production activities belong to the core business areas of VNG together with trading, transport and storage.  We want to further expand along this value chain in order to secure and further develop the market success of VNG. We feel certain that we in Atle Sonesen have found the right man to head our engagement in Norway”, says Chairman Michael Ludwig.
